Always Waiting

God is always waiting for you and me to talk to Him. It might be hard for some of us to comprehend this, but it is true. His greatest need is for us to come and talk to Him and to love Him. His greatest love of all is us, the human race. He created us with a will of our own to make our free choice to love Him or not to love Him, to talk to Him or not to talk to Him. He has given this free will to us. He will not impose upon it or take it away from us. He’s given this freedom of choice to us without reservation, knowing full well that it can end up hurting Him. When you love someone you give him or her the freedom to make that choice. You don’t force yourself on that person. If you want true love you have to allow the person you love the freedom to choose to love you. That’s what God did for us. He gave us the freedom to choose to talk to Him or not to talk to Him, to love Him or not to love Him.

God’s greatest need is love because His nature is love. When someone is an artist or a chef for example, they have a need to express themselves as an artist or a chef. The artist will seek out ways to express himself through his art and so will the chef. The artist might think of stuff like what to paint, what colors to apply and what brushes to use. Likewise the chef might think of all kinds of food to make and what ingredients he needs and how to bring that food together. They also have the need to show their art or food, and share it with people they love and who will appreciate their work. Likewise with God, who is Love. He has a need to share His love to those who will appreciate Him. This is why He made us. This is why He created us: to share His love with us.

God’s love is not one sided. He is asking to be loved back. His greatest need is to be loved back – by us. The only way to comprehend this is by becoming a parent to a child, and your love is centered on that child. Out of all the things you desire in this life the greatest would be is for your child to love you back. It would be the greatest pain in your heart if your child does not want you, or wants nothing to do with you. You love freely and you give freely, even your life. You ask for nothing in return except for your child to love you back. How beautiful and wonderful and fulfilling is it when your child decides one day to just sit and talk and hang out with you? They want nothing else but to be with you. They are not asking you for any money or for any favor, but just to spend time with you. This is exactly what God wants from us. He wants nothing else but our time and our attention and our hearts talking to Him and loving Him, sharing with Him our thoughts and our desires and whatever else we have in our hearts. He is our Father and we are His children. He wants to be our friend. He loves us so much that He gave His life for us at the cross so that we can find forgiveness for our sins and be set free to freely love Him in return. He wants nothing in return from us but for us to simply love Him back and spend some time with Him.

God is always waiting for us. He is always waiting for us to talk to Him.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. {John 3:16}

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. {Matthew 11:28-29}

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. {Jeremiah 29:13}

Prayer

Lord Jesus, please Savior give us the confidence today to come to You. Give us confidence in Your love for us today. Let us want and desire and take the time to talk to You and tell You all about ourselves and everything and anything that is in our hearts, because I know You are just so desirous to hear from us.
