And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. {Luke 11:9-10}
A few days ago I saw a post by my sister on Facebook looking for her missing dog who got out of the backyard. It looks like the dog has been missing since the morning and it is now in the afternoon around 1 o’clock. It got me upset because even though I haven’t met the dog face to face, I have seen my sister post a picture of the dog when she first got it, and she updated us on how they’re getting along with the dog. I love the dog. She seems such a sweet dog to me who was loved by her kids very much. I wasn’t sure if this was something I could bring to the Lord. I know I can bring anything to Him, but I wasn’t sure if this was something He’d care about or want to be bothered about. After all it’s just a dog. Why would God care about a missing dog? And since my sister had posted it on Facebook, I was hoping that was enough. I’m thinking someone will see her and bring her back home. But I was afraid at the same time that the dog might go on missing forever and never come back home. What if no one sees her and brings her back home? How would they even know where to look? I felt like I needed to get the Lord involved on this issue. So I thought, why not? I know the Lord cares and I know He can do anything – nothing is impossible with Him. So I threw myself down on the floor and prostrated myself before the feet of Jesus and talked to Him. I told the Lord how I felt. I told the Lord how I liked the dog very much and think she’s very sweet, and also told the Lord my concern about my sister and her two children who love the dog and need the dog in their house. I found myself crying to the Lord to please bring the dog back home. The Lord comforted me and assured me He will take care of it. Then He tells me, “Done.” I thanked the Lord and got up and got back to my computer and did my emails and went through a couple of sites. I don’t even think it took ten minutes but within that time I felt like going back on Facebook, and within seconds of being on that page my sister uploaded another post and told us that the dog had come back home. She posted a picture of the dog with muddy feet and looking very tired. I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it! I thought to myself that was quick! I thought it was going to take some time for the Lord to get the dog back home, maybe have someone find the dog first and then bring her back home in a couple of hours or so. It didn’t even occur to me that the dog herself could go back home on her own. I couldn’t believe it. Who could answer so quickly like this? As soon as I saw the post I knew in my heart it was God. So I threw myself back on the floor and wept to Him with thanksgiving and told Him how incredible it was that the dog got back home on her own. I said to the Lord, “Father, the dog is back! I can’t believe it! She’s back!” And the Lord showed me He told the dog to go back home and placed in her heart to go back home! He showed me His hand was upon that dog to go back home every step of the way. Who would’ve thought! Of course! He owns the whole entire world and created the animals. He created everything and anything that lives and breathes on this world we live in. The Bible States, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” {John 1:3} He told that whale to swallow Jonah up, of course He can tell a dog to go back home and even lead her back home every step of the way. How incredible was that! I couldn’t believe it! Thank You, Jesus!
I tell you, this was just another proof to me that if you want something in the natural world to come to pass and need it to come to pass, get God involved and quick! Don’t even hesitate and wait around until you think you have faith enough to move mountains with God. Just tell Him how you feel about your need, make your request and let Him take care of it for you. Don’t worry about how it’s going to happen, just believe that He loves you and cares very much about what you’re going through. It is very important to come to Him right away while you still have that burden. Don’t delay your request because the burden might not be there in five minutes if you do. It is more powerful when your burden to have something done is great. You have to strike while the iron is hot. This way you are able to move God with your burden because you’re coming to Him with all of your heart and soul. It is important to Him that we come to Him with all of our heart and soul, and we have a burden in our heart to see something come to pass. This is what I felt in my heart I needed to do regarding this request about the dog. I had to make it quick while it was still daylight and the need was great. I cannot delay.
I’m learning, even when you’re not sure God would care about your situation, ask anyway. Ask because He always does care. If it’s something that bothers you and concerns you, He cares very much. We might not think He cares, because others might think we’re being silly to get God involved. I’ve had people tell me, “Oh, Sheila, don’t bother God about this. There are bigger problems He’s dealing with.” That’s really not the point. The point is if God loves you and cares so much for you, whether big or small, you can have God involved with your situation. It doesn’t matter because He cares very much. He loves us so much. And He wants to see us happy. He wants us to get Him involved all the time. Whether our problem is big or not, He wants to be involved. How will He ever prove how faithful and how involved He is with us if we don’t come to Him all the time for even the littlest thing that arises in our lives?
Don’t delay with your request. Even if you’re not sure if He cares or even can do what you’re requesting, ask anyway. The sooner you ask while your burden is fresh, the more powerful your prayer is. What have you got to lose?
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. {1 Peter 5:7}
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. {Matthew 19:26}
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. {John 14:8}
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. {Jeremiah 29:13}
Prayer
Lord Jesus I thank You so much Father for Your boundless love. You are so amazing Jesus, there is no one like You. I love You so much!
Father, I thank You that with You all things are possible and that with You nothing is too little or too small of a request. You always care and Your desire is to show us how much You care, and how involved You can be in our lives. Help us Father to love You enough to get You involved, even when we’re not sure if a situation is something You would consider and take care of for us. Give us faith Lord Jesus in Your love for us that no matter how small or little our situation is, to believe in You that You do care. You want to see us hope and trust in You all the time. You want to prove Yourself to us. Help us then Father, to practice our faith in You everyday by daily committing all things to You and talking to You. I ask all these things Father in Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
