Ever Cling To The Lord

Podcast

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. {John 16:33}

God’s love never ever changes. Man’s love may change but God’s love will never change. When you’re looking to Him constantly for everything, He will not disappoint you. Grant it, some things take time to transpire in our lives. Nevertheless, if you remain trusting in His love for you, whatever it is that you requested from Him (according to His will) He will give them to you. You might say your prayers today and not see any answers right away, but it doesn’t mean God has forgotten about your request. You have to hang in there. You have to allow the Lord to do the work, so that He can bring the things you desire to come to pass in your life.

So many times we give up on Him. We don’t see our prayers happening. We don’t see the things we’ve been praying for perhaps even for years, and finally we just give up. We don’t seek after Him to find out what happened to our request. If we actually take the time to seek after Him and find out what’s going on with our requests, He will show us what’s causing the delay. Sometimes He will show us another way to pray for it. Other times He will show us it’s actually not a great idea, and if we wait on Him long enough to explain Himself to us we will agree with Him. Most of the time it doesn’t come to pass because what we asked for will actually become a detriment to our relationship with Him. Then finally we don’t see the results of our prayers because we just stopped talking to Him about it. We just plain give up and stopped believing He really cares. We don’t think He heard us because we don’t see it happen right away, so we give up.

The key thing to getting our prayers answered in this life is in the attitude of clinging to the Lord: the mentality that whatever happens in our lives we will look to Him, we will need Him. Whether He gives us our heart’s desires or not, we will continue to look to Him and talk to Him about everything.

Having our prayers answered and peace granted to us comes through faithfulness in our love and desire for God. We don’t just come to Him to get our problems solved and our prayers answered, we go to Him to know Him, to serve Him and to have Him in our lives.

Can you imagine entering into a relationship and giving up on it because the person you’re friends with doesn’t give you what you want? Are you the kind of friend who takes advantage of people, where if they don’t do what you want for them to do for you, you leave them? Well, of course, if you are truly interested in a caring and loving relationship with someone, you most of the time would actually care to give more than to receive. It should be a reciprocal kind of relationship. You shouldn’t just take and take and not give.

Likewise with Jesus Christ, the King of all kings. We’re not just in this relationship with Him to take and take. We want to give as well. Truth be told, He gives more than we can ever give to Him. In my experience with Him I receive more than I give. I notice the more I give to Him, the more I receive from Him.

That’s why it’s imperative if we’re going to have a victorious relationship with Jesus Christ, where we see our prayers answered and our life being filled to the fullest, our first motive should be to desire Him first. If we desire Him first everything else will follow. When a woman falls in love with a man, she desires him first before the things he owns or possesses. It would be an awful thing to marry someone just for what they can give to you or for their riches. You will be one miserable person. Whereas if you love the person first and they love you back, you know that whatever you desire from them will be given to you. It’s just how it is. They will want to give everything to you because you love them and they love you back.

Likewise with Jesus Christ, if we desire Him first before anything else in this life, all these things we’re desiring for will be given to us. This is what He meant when He said,

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. {Matthew 6:33}

You see Jesus Christ is the kingdom of God. He is the Word of God made manifest in this world. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one goes to the Father but by Him. {John 14:6} If we seek after Jesus, if we seek His righteousness and all the things that pertain to Him, everything will be given to us. The Bible tells us,

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. {Colossians 1:16-17}

That’s why I say have the ‘clinging mentality’ when it comes to your relationship with the Lord. It is good to have this attitude of always depending on Him. He has told us in this world we will have tribulations. There is no doubt about it, we will have trials, temptations, and sorrows that we wish we could be exempted from. But the Lord tells us to be happy, to be of good cheer, and not to be disheartened because He has overcome the world. It means that whatever sorrow or trials and persecutions we may encounter in this life, we will overcome them. Jesus Christ has the power over everything that pertains to this life. He has overcome the world at the cross. He has overcome the principalities of this world at Calvary. There is nothing that is beyond His power. He has power over every problem and every trouble we will ever face. There is nothing that He cannot do. There is nothing He will not do for us. Nothing that can happen to us in this life is out of His control. We will overcome, because He has already overcome the world. And if our hearts are ever toward Him, clinging and hoping against hope for everything in Him, then there’s nothing that He will not give to us. He will give to us all things because great is His love for us.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {Hebrews 12:2}

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? {Romans 8:31}

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. {John 15:7}

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. {Luke 10:19}

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. {Philippians 4:13}

Prayer

Father, I thank You for Your great love upon us through Your precious Son Jesus Christ. I thank You so much that You overcame the world at the cross so that through You we can overcome also. Father, I give You all the praise and glory, love and adoration, now and forever let Your name be glorified.

Lord Jesus, Savior help me and give me the clingy mentality in my relationship with You, always looking to You, always talking to You and needing You. So that whatever happens and whatever trouble or problem I go through in this life, I will find You. You promised to never ever leave me nor forsake me. Please Father, help me to seek after Your face and find You always. I pray this Father in Your wonderful name, Jesus. Thank You Father. Amen.
