Got Worries?

Do you ever get this feeling that sometimes there is just so much to do and so much to worry about, and not enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you need to accomplish? Then as you’re thinking these thoughts a feeling of being overwhelmed will come over you and your whole body goes in a spasm of tension. Your back starts to ache, your neck starts to ache, your breathing starts to go shallow, your stomach starts to cramp and you feel a sense of panic come over you as if everything is out of your control. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

Once in a while I get this wave of feeling overwhelmed coming over me whenever I have so much to do and so many things I want to accomplish, and I start to worry. Worry is the culprit. It sends a signal or a scent to the devil that attracts him to us because before you know it, the things that shouldn’t be such a big deal now become insurmountable. I have experienced this again and again. The minute I worry and I obsess over certain things to try to figure it out, the devil comes around and jumps into the bandwagon with me. Before you know it I’m feeling overwhelmed and feel out of control with myself and with my life. The Lord has revealed something to me time and again when I feel this way and I talk to Him. He shows me I’m worrying and obsessing again, and the enemy has jumped into my wagon and is fanning the flames of worry. Even just few minutes ago I had to rebuke Satan again and tell him to leave me alone. I confronted him and told him I know what he’s doing (because the Lord has shown me), and told him I want him to leave me alone and stop afflicting me, and he has. The feeling of being overwhelmed dissipated away. It’s bad enough to worry about things, I don’t need him to jump in my wagon and fill me with a sense of panic and despair. I’m telling you, you might think it’s just you, but the minute you’re feeling overwhelmed and out of control it’s the enemy fanning your worry and jumping into your wagon of worries. Watch out for him and rebuke him.

This is my only answer time and again: talking to the Lord. Whenever I worry or when I’m planning things out and I’m feeling overwhelmed, I talk to the Lord. He does not want me worrying. He hates to see us worrying. Here are some beautiful things the Lord has said about this:

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. {Matthew 6:25-34}

The important thing is to get God involved in our lives all the time by always talking to Him. Even if you’ve already figured things out by yourself and you don’t need His help, talk to Him about it anyway because you can always use His help. Down the road of your planning and your figuring things out, He knows even more how to make it easier for you. He knows how to get us to our destination faster and better than we can ever come up with. I remember trying to figure out a problem one time in my life, worrying about it, and asking the Lord for His help at the same time. I started to think of what I could do and how I could help a loved-one that was asking for my help, when lo and behold it just worked out by itself. I didn’t have to lift a finger. And there I was worrying about it. But, thank the Lord because in the process of my worrying I was talking to the Lord about it. He assured me too that He will take care of it and He did. How many times have I experienced this! A problem or a situation will come up, I start to worry and start to figure out how I can solve it, then I remember the Lord and bring it to Him and talk to Him through my worrying. He assures me He will take care of it for me and He does. It’s the only answer for me time and time again. Whenever I worry I talk to the Lord. I tell Him everything that’s bothering me, what the problem is, what I think should be done, and ask Him what He thinks of it. Before you know it, He’s responding in my spirit assurances to me that He will take care of it. Or He shows me what I should do, and I do it and it works out. He is a very merciful and gracious God. He loves us so much. He does not want us worrying and getting stressed out in this life. He wants us to have peace and rest always. He said,

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. {Matthew 11:28-30}

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. {John 14:27}

Prayer

Father, it feels like such a disease with us to worry. We can’t help ourselves. We just want to worry and worry and figure things out for ourselves, and then we end up exhausted and unhappy. Will You please Father, help us? Will You please help us to stop worrying and start learning to hand things over to You and start believing so much in Your love for us? How that You are always here for us, waiting to help us in whatever endeavors we are faced with in this life. Great or small, it doesn’t matter, You are always willing to help us. Father, I thank You so much Lord Jesus that You gave Your life for us to set us free from all our worries. There is nothing to worry about, really all we need to do is talk to You about it. Please Jesus, help us to get in the habit of talking to You all the time and giving up our lives to You every moment of our day. For You alone know our tomorrow and have the control of our lives and everything in this life. There is nothing we can ever do for ourselves for a long time that will go right. Eventually something is going to go wrong, so we might as well learn to hand things over to You always and all the time. I pray this, in Your most wonderful name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
