And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. {Romans 8:28}
When you love the Lord and are always talking to Him, He will work all things out for your good – guaranteed. Why? Because God is faithful and He never changes. The Bible states that if we love Him, He will work all things out for our good. If we are called according to His purpose and we respond to His calling in our lives, then there is nothing He will not do for us. He will work everything out for our good. King David said in Psalms,
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. {Psalm 37:25}
The fact is God never changes. Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. {Hebrews 13:8} The word of God tells us that God never lies. It tells us,
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? {Numbers 23:19}
So because we know that God is faithful and never lies, then we can count on Him to work everything out for our good. Even if it’s not looking like things are going well with us at the moment (the car broke down again, our child is sick and in the hospital, we’re out of funds, we’re not on speaking terms with someone we love, on and on and on) and there seems to be never ending trials and tribulations, they will all work out. Just hang in there and stay faithful and thankful. There’s nothing more that attracts God than when we have a thankful attitude. I know it’s not an easy thing to do. Our nature seems to naturally complain and see the bad side in every scenario. Even when the sun is shining we fear it’s going to rain so we bring an umbrella just in case. Life is like that – the rain falls equally on the just and the unjust – no one is exempted. {Matthew 5:45} But a thankful heart and a thankful attitude glorify God and bring Him closer to us. The Bible tells us,
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. {1 Thessalonians 5:18}
Besides, being thankful even in the midst of our tribulations and sorrows shows faith in God. It tells Him that we know He will work everything out for our good. We know He will never leave us nor forsake us. Since we believe that with all of our hearts, then there’s nothing to be afraid of. We can say, “Thank You, Jesus”, even when things aren’t going the way we want them to. The Bible tells us faith pleases the Lord. Without faith it’s impossible to please Him.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. {Hebrews 11:6}
The secret to always being thankful is in committing everything to God in prayer. Whatever sorrow, whatever heartache, whatever trials or tribulations are upon us, we need to be talking to the Lord about them – letting Him know what we feel about them and what we desire for Him to do for us. If you need to cry and vent out and be upset about it, do it before Him. Don’t find a friend or a relative or family member to pour your burdens to. Find God first, because He loves it when we choose to unburden ourselves to Him first. It shows our faith and our love for Him. It shows He is important to us because we need Him first. Besides, our friends and family can only carry so much of our burdens. They are not God. They can’t help us the way God can. But the Lord knows how to carry us. He knows how to lift us up and comfort us. If you let Him know and pour your heart and soul to Him, He will help you carry them. He will lighten your burden. I have experienced this in my life, His comforting presence time and time again – His love and His grace when I go to Him with my burdens first. I have found after talking to Him first, I don’t need friends, family members or other relatives. I don’t need to burden someone else with my sorrows because He already took them away. He knows how to comfort, He knows how to alleviate burdens, and He knows how to strengthen us so that we can see another day. We can smile in the midst of our trials. We can say, “God is good and faithful and true, I love Him so much.” He gives peace and joy no one else and nothing else in this life can. We can always be thankful because we know He will work all things out for our good.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. {Philippians 4:6-7}
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. {Matthew 11:28-30}
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: {2 Corinthians 9:8}
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. {Philippians 4:11}
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. {Psalm 107:1}
Prayer

We need You Lord always. There’s no one else that can understand us like You do. Please Lord, help us to have faith in Your love for us and trust You with our burdens. Help us to pour our heart and soul to You so we don’t have to dread life and fret everyday about what the future holds. We can be thankful in the midst of our trials and tribulations because You are faithful. Help us Father to go to You always and talk to You. Help us to be thankful no matter what happens, because You know how to work all things out for our good. I ask for more faith and love for You today. I pray in Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
