Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. {Psalm 37:4}
There are many ways to delight ourselves in the Lord. We can go to church, read the Bible, pay our tithes and offerings, forgive people, and love our neighbors as ourselves. There are numerous ways to make God happy with us. But there is an easy and most effective way to endear ourselves to the Lord, and to make Him love us without having to leave our seat or go anywhere. You don’t even have to move a muscle. You don’t have to do anything spectacular. You don’t have to be smart or rich. You don’t have to be healthy, young, pretty or attractive. You don’t have to be anybody special. But if you do this one simple thing, God will delight in you. God will be happy with you and He will make you special. You will go places and experience things with God you’ve never dreamed of. You will be filled with His love, grace, forgiveness, peace, joy, and heavenly experiences that only He can give to you. He will give you dreams and give you a future that you cannot even think possible. He will give you faith to fulfill those dreams and bring you to places you’ve never even imagined.
He will do and give so much to you just because you do this one thing: Talk to Him.
That’s it. It’s a very simple act so many of us miss out on every single day. Just talk to Him. Nothing genius. Nothing earth shattering. But you know what, it is the very thing that God delights in the most. You know why? Because He loves us so much He wants to talk to us. It’s the very reason God created the heaven and earth and everything in it, so that He can create man and have fellowship with him. The Bible tells us that after He created everything, He went down to Adam and Eve and talked to them. In the cool of the evening the Lord would come down and talk with them. {Genesis 3:8-9} Throughout the ages and throughout the Bible you will see again and again, men and women of God become great because they talked to God. They had a relationship with Him. From Noah to Abraham, Moses to King David, from Ezekiel to Daniel to Isaiah and Jeremiah, all had a relationship with God. As did Hannah, the mother of Prophet Samuel, to Deborah who led the children of Israel against their enemies the Moabites, down to Queen Esther and Naomi, the great grandmother of King David. They all have one thing in common – they talked to God. Nothing delights God more than when we talk to Him. Nothing will give us more power than talking to God, because He turns around and blesses those that talk to Him. When this life is over and when the world is judged in the eyes of God, the only thing that’s left is to be with Jesus. The thing that He will want the most is to fellowship with us forever and ever. This is the very reason He came down and died at the cross. This is the very reason He gave His life for us, so that today you and I can have fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit that He gives to us. Through our hearts and our soul, and through our minds and our spirit, we can talk to Him. Why do you think He gave us His Holy Spirit? Why do you think He promised to send down the Holy Ghost to the disciples and to those who believe in Him? It is because this is His way of talking to us. Through the Holy Ghost we can talk to Him. This is the only thing that matters to Him, now and forever: to fellowship with us. He loves us so much all He wants to do is spend eternity with us, fellowshipping with us.
If you want power with God and if you want power in this life, and if you want to endear yourself to God, talk to Him.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. {Psalm 27:8}
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. {Jeremiah 29:13}
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. {Isaiah 40:31}
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. {John 15:5}
