How To Love Yourself Through God

Click Here To Listen

Do you know that talking to God is loving yourself? Think about it. Who can know you better than God? Who can love you better than Him? Who above anyone else in this life can help you and make things better for you? None other than God. Time and time again He has proven Himself throughout the ages to those who have looked to Him to be faithful, merciful, loving, and true. No one can understand us better than God. No one can see the things we see the way He can. No one else can really go into the very depths of our soul and know us. Even our very best friend or someone we truly love cannot ever come into our soul, and know us and feel us. Only God can truly feel our thoughts and the longings and desires we have in our hearts. I have come to the Lord again and again when I needed comforting, and again and again He has filled my soul and satisfied the longings and desires of my heart.

A lot of people out there are into meditation. Some have “loving yourself” talk as part of their meditation. They say affirmative words to themselves like, “I am beautiful. I am good. I am smart. I am wonderful. People love me.” I have tried this but it doesn’t last for me. I feel like if I’m just going to take the time to practice the world’s way of meditation so I can feel better, I might as well talk to the One who knows my problems to begin with. Besides, something about talking to God and loving God brings Him to me. The Bible tells us God is Love. So when I invite Him into my soul what do you think happens? Love comes in. God knows me inside and out, and there’s nothing He can’t figure out about me. Rather than focusing on my breathing, then focusing on my right ear, then my left ear, then my stomach going in and out, (and finally passing out because I end up dozing off), I would just rather focus on Jesus Christ. I can imagine His face and looking at His eyes staring back at me and loving me. This relaxes me so much. I could end up napping too and feeling refreshed right after it. But with Him, whenever I talk to Him and meditate on Him, I get this joy right away. When I wake up it feels like the world is all right again. I just feel God’s love penetrate into my soul through and through. I don’t have to wait too long. Especially when I start my loving talk to Him. Instead of saying, “I am beautiful. I am good. I am wonderful and people love me,” I say, “I love You, Jesus. You are so sweet to my soul. You are so good to me. I love You so much. I cannot live without You. You are so beautiful. You are so wonderful! You are so amazing! You’re the only one that will last forever and ever I love You so much.”  Trust me on this, when I do this and imagine Him before me while I say this to Him, it works every time. It lifts my soul and my spirit up quicker than an hour of meditation focusing on my body parts and the environment around me could ever do. All I need to do is worship God and tell Him all the beautiful things I know about Him, and thank Him in the process for who He is in my life, and right away I feel instant gratification.

That’s why I say talking to God is loving myself. Because when I do He turns around and fills me with love. He also works things out for me, like any issue or problem I might be worrying over or any frustrations and aggravation I may be feeling at the moment. He works things out for me. I feel loved and taken care of. Where else can you get that instant comfort that can only come through the Holy Ghost? No where on this planet earth. Nowhere. Only God can give it. He lets me know He loves me. He lets me know I am important to Him and that I have a purpose in this life. He lets me know He has plans for me and tells me what they are. I mean talk about loving myself, His presence gives me worth the likes of nothing can ever compare in this world. I love Him so much!

Back in the time of Apostle Paul he went to Athens and preached to the people there at Mars Hill. The people were into idolatry and pagan worship. They worshipped all kinds of icons and statues, imagining God to be one of them. But then Paul told them that God doesn’t work that way. He doesn’t need to be created into a statue or an icon to be worshipped. All we have to do is feel after Him. He said that all people needed to do was to:

“Seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us.” {Acts 17:27}

You see God is not far from any one of us. Where you are, He is. Nothing in this life can make us happy like talking to God. Talking to God is the key to happiness in this life. It’s the best way to love ourselves.

So the next time you’re feeling out of it, unmotivated, or just plain depressed, try meditating on God. Try loving yourself by focusing on Him being in front of you, loving and caring for you. Then imagine His eyes, His nose and His face, even the hair on his head. You can even imagine Him dressed in white robe with a red sash around his shoulder. Imagine the sandals on His feet. (I have, by the way, seen Him in a dream dressed like this.) Imagine Him staring back at you, so in love with you, and whose sole desire is to see you happy. He loves you so much. He created you. He made you. He’s very proud of you. There’s no one else that loves you more than Him. He gave His life for you at the cross so that you can come boldly to Him and find forgiveness for your sins. He doesn’t want you to be afraid of Him. He wants you to treat Him as your dearest friend in the world, who cares for you so much. Imagine Him knowing your every thought and every desire and longing that’s in your heart, and yet understanding you regardless through and through. Imagine that you can talk to Him through your heart and soul – through your thoughts. Feel after Him. Feel His love and His presence. Let your feelings and desires rise above you right into His heart and into His soul. He can truly feel all of your thoughts and desires. Tell Him you love Him and that He means the world to you. Tell Him you appreciate Him being in your life, and for giving His life for you so that you can have Him as your very best friend today. Before you know it He will be responding to You. He will be filling your mind and your thoughts with love for you. You will hear affirmation words in your head like you’ve never heard before. You will feel this wave of love and words in your spirit telling you He loves you and how you are precious to Him. He will tell you that He has a purpose for you in this life. He will make you feel so special. He will fill your heart with so much value and worth. I’m telling you, try it. I’m telling you it’s the best meditation for happiness I’ve ever found and experienced. I’ve found myself crying and weeping because I would feel God’s love so much I can’t help it. It would go through me like a refreshing waterfall crashing upon my soul and go right through me. I would feel His love and His Holy Spirit so much I would start to speak in tongues and release myself of all of these tensions and frustrations and any negative thoughts. It’s so awesome. It’s so refreshing. I hope you’ll give it a try.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. {John 3:17}

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. {John 3:16}

All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. {John 1:3-4}

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. {Jeremiah 31:3}

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. {Matthew 11:28-30}

Prayer

Father, You are so gracious and so wonderful. You are so loving and so true. You are full of compassion, slow to anger and of a great mercy. I love You, so much.

Thank You Father, for Your great love upon me. Thank You for giving Your life for me at Calvary to set me free today to worship You and praise You. Thank You that I can come boldly to You today with my requests and desires. I can come to You confidently because Your love is true. Thank You Father for the greatness of Your love for me.

Lord, I pray for Your continued blessing upon me today. Give me more faith in Your love for me. Help me to grow in the knowledge of You by continually talking to You and spending time with You. Help me to meditate on You. Help me to remember that talking to You is loving myself. I will save myself in the process too and bring myself into life eternal with You. I pray for more love for You and for more faith in You everyday, Jesus. I pray this in Your most wonderful and powerful name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
