“To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” {Acts 26:18}
Through Jesus Christ I am free. I am no longer subject to the elements and powers of the principalities of this world. Through Jesus I have the power to overcome and be free to live for Him. Sometimes though we think it’s us that makes us holy and righteous. Sometimes we feel that we struggle and struggle to be perfect and upright before God, and we can’t seem to overcome. The problem is that we are looking upon ourselves to make ourselves holy. If we do that we’re definitely are going to be in trouble. The key to overcoming is always being aware of our need to constantly be in communication with Jesus Christ. We have to accept, and I know it’s not an easy thing to do, but we need to accept that we do not have strength on our own. We cannot make ourselves righteous. If that was the case, why would the Lord bother to come down from heaven and die for our sins? If we, on our own ability and efforts can please God and be holy and upright at all times, why would God send Himself down to us and die for us at Calvary? The fact is we can’t save our own selves. We have no righteousness to speak of on our own. We cannot be holy. We cannot be righteous. We have no power on our own. You know who has the power over us without Jesus Christ? Satan, that’s who. On our own we cannot even have the power to resist Satan. This is exactly what Jesus Christ told Paul on his way to Damascus when the Lord appeared to him to send him as a preacher to the Gentiles. This is what the Lord said to Paul He was going to do for us:
To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God…
Satan has obvious power over mankind, so Jesus Christ Himself had to come down and bring down that principality by overcoming it at the cross. His sacrifice shed the precious blood that was required for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we can have God in our lives today. Jesus told Paul to tell the Gentiles that through Him, through faith in His name, they can be set free.
We are free today because of what Jesus Christ did for us at the cross. We are free today because we can now find forgiveness for our sins through Jesus. We are free to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved. There is nothing that Satan or the principalities of this world can do to us if we call upon the name of the Lord, and look to Him for our salvation. Jesus Christ is our way to God. Jesus Christ is our way to life abundantly on this earth. Jesus Christ is our way to life everlasting and the life to come with God. We are free to live a holy and righteous life before God, if our faith is in Jesus Christ and not upon ourselves.
Everyday in order to overcome and to have His power over us we need to be talking to Him, loving Him, and praising Him. We need to be calling upon the Lord Jesus every time we face any temptation or trial or heartache. We need to be confessing to Him and asking for His grace and forgiveness whenever we come to His presence. He is holy and pure. There is no spot or blemish in Him. In order to enter into His presence we need to be always opening our hearts to Him and confessing our sins and our selves to Him. Always being open to Him, and always being honest with Him. This is how to overcome. This is how to be set free. Jesus Christ has made the way for us. We are no longer bound by the power of Satan. Anything and everything we want to be in Jesus we can become, because nothing is too hard for Him. He has overcome Calvary for us and the principalities of this world. We need to be always looking to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. On our own we cannot do it. We have no strength on our own. Jesus knows that, that’s why He came down and died for us. That’s why He wants us to always be talking to Him and finding our strength in Him. He is not here to condemn us when we sin. He is not here to turn us away and point fingers at us when we fail. He is here to help us and forgive us, if we would only come and be open to Him regarding our sins. He will not turn us away because He loves us so much. That’s why He came down and died for us because He loves us so much. Through Him we overcome. He is our light. He is our strength. He is everything we will ever need to overcome in this life. With the Lord always on our side there is nothing in this life we cannot face and we cannot conquer. Through Jesus Christ we can do all things.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. {John 8:36}
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. {Romans 9:16}
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {Hebrews 12:2}
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. {Philippians 4:13}
Prayer
Lord Jesus I thank You with all of my heart for You, for You are our God who gave His life for us, died for our sins to set us free. I thank You so much Lord for dying for our sins. Today we can be set free through believing in You and looking to You for everything. There is nothing You will not help us with if our eyes are upon You at all times. You will help us. You will deliver us. You will be there for us when we fall and when we sin and come short of Your glory. Your desire is for us to humble ourselves before You, to confess our sins to You, and find our life in You. We are free to come and worship You and love You anytime. We should not be afraid or be ashamed of ourselves before You. Just a simple prayer of repentance to You and we are accepted. There is nothing You will not forgive us with because Your love is great for us. I love You so much my dearest Lord Jesus. I thank You for Your grace and Your love for us Your people today. I pray faith and confidence be upon us today, in Your most wonderful name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
