But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. {John 4:14}
You can search and search and search the whole world until the day you die, but nothing will satisfy or can ever satisfy like Jesus. How do I know? Because I have been filled by Him, and when you’ve been filled by Him you know that you’ve been filled. That hunger, that gnawing in your heart, that pining and longing and ache for something you can’t put a finger on just disappears. When you’ve been filled by Jesus your whole being knows it. You respond to it, you know it, and that search in your heart ends. Nothing else matters in your life but to be filled by Him again.
That’s why the Lord can say in John 4:14, the water that He gives to us is a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Jesus tells us,
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. {John 14:6}
John the Beloved penned these words about Jesus,
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. {John 1:2-3}
Jesus can satisfy like no one else in this world, because He created this world. He created you and me and knows every intricate part of you and me. He is the source of all life on this earth. You can search and search all you like for happiness to fill and satisfy the longings deep inside your soul, but only He can go into your soul and satisfy it like nothing in this world can. Only He gave His life for you and died for your soul, and overcame the principalities and the darkness of this world. Only He can speak into life things that have not existed before. Jesus is God in the flesh, so that you and I can see Him today in our hearts and in our souls. When we ask Him to come and enter into our hearts and become our Lord and Savior, He becomes real in our lives. We can see Him. We can see God because God has given Himself to us through the form of Jesus Christ. We can see Him and touch Him and hear Him. All we have to do is to seek after Him with all of our hearts and soul and talk to Him. God tells us,
And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart. {Jeremiah 29:13}
Jesus Christ fills like no one else can because He is the Spirit of all the spirits in this world. There are all manner of spirits in this world that will try to fill us, and we fool ourselves thinking they will fill us. But at the end of the day when we lie down on our beds, none of the stuff we’ve entertained in this life can fill us deep within our soul like Jesus can. Not even the love of people and the love they give us can fill us deep within our soul like Jesus can. No other spirit can fill us and make us complete except the Spirit of Jesus Christ, because He is God. And God is love. God is the source of all love. Without God we will not know what love is. He will come and fill you and complete you, so that you can feel it and hold it and know it. Every part of your heart and soul will respond to it because He is the Spirit of God that created you.
The only way to have more of Jesus is to know Him. To talk to Him and to ask for His grace and forgiveness, so that He will come and fill our soul again and again. The more we confess our sins to Him and ask for His grace and forgiveness, the more He will come and fill us. The more we tell Him that we need Him and want Him, the more He will come and fill us.
He will not go into a soul that does not welcome Him. He will not go into a soul that is unclean. He will not go into a soul that does not want Him. The only way that He will go in is if we ask Him to come in, and clean our soul of our sins and iniquities and of all our unrighteousness. He will clean our soul. He wants to clean our soul. He wants to make our hearts His home too. But we have to be willing to work with Him. We have to be willing to respond to His dealings and nudging in our spirit to spend time with Him, talking to Him, confessing our sins and anything that is not right in our lives before Him. He is not asking us to change ourselves and be holy and upright without His help. He knows we cannot change ourselves without His help. He wouldn’t have come down and died for our sins if we could change and save ourselves. We need Him because we have no power on our own. When we give Him our hearts then He is more than willing to work with us, and He will work with us because He loves us so much and gave His life up for us.
Nothing satisfies like Jesus can, because when this life is over all souls and all spirits will return to Him. He knows how to satisfy us. He knows how to fill us. He knows every intricate part of our heart and soul, the very depth of our being. No one else can understand us like Jesus can. The only way to have Him is to ask Him to give Himself to us, and we in turn give ourselves to Him. Without Him we are nothing.
If you don’t have Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and you don’t know who He is, you can say this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your grace and mercy upon my soul. Please Jesus forgive me of all my sins and of all my iniquities. I know that You gave Your life for me and for my sins so that I can find forgiveness in You and belong to You. I know You love me. Please help me to believe that You love me. Please help me to believe everyday in Your love for me and everyday bring myself to You. I need You Jesus. I need You to fill the emptiness I feel in my heart and soul everyday. Will You please guide me to know You more, and to have You and receive You more and more everyday? Please come into my heart and soul and be my God and King, my Lord and Savior. I pray this Lord Jesus in Your wonderful name. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
This is just the beginning of your relationship with Jesus Christ. The most important thing in this relationship is to always have an open communication with Him. We need to make time everyday with Him, to talk to Him and to open up our hearts to Him, so that He can come and fill us with Himself. When we open up our hearts to Him, He will be able to deal with us and show us what we need to do and teach us how to love Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He will show us how to love Him every step of the way, because we don’t know Him yet. He has to show us how to love Him. Loving God is not automatic. Just like loving our spouses and loving them deeper takes time and open communication, loving God takes time and open communication. We don’t automatically just know how to love God when we’ve been carnal and sinful all our lives. God is a Spirit and is holy and righteous. Our ways are opposite the ways of God. The Bible tells us that the carnal mind is an enemy to God. It is hostile to God. So the Lord has to show us and teach us how to love Him. He has to fill us with His Holy Spirit, so that we can know how to follow Him and obey Him. Unless He shows us how to love Him we will not ever know how to love Him, because we are flesh and He is a Spirit. He has to reveal Himself to us. He has to show Himself to us and teach us His way. He knows everything about us because He made us. But we don’t know everything about Him. He has to show us the way. That’s why He tells us to abide in Him everyday so that He can show us the way. He told us,
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. {John 15:4-5}
Abiding with Jesus means we stay with Him all the time, we spend time with Him always. We cannot know a person without spending time with that person. So likewise with the Lord, we have to take the time and spend it with Him, talking to Him, knowing His word, reading His word, and knowing who He is. The more we know Him the more we will be filled by Him. The more we are filled by Him the more we will see Him in our lives.
There is no one like Jesus. There is nothing that can satisfy like Jesus. He is the only thing that can fill us through and through.
Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. {Matthew 11:28-30}
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your great love for me. I thank You Father God for giving Your life for me at the cross at Calvary, so that I can have remission of my sins and find life everlasting with You.
Please Father, cleanse me from all of my unrighteousness. Help me to come to You everyday and find You with all of my heart. Help me to confess all my sins to You and not hide anything from You. Help me to know You and love You and follow You until the day You take me home to be with You. I ask all these things Father in Your most wonderful and sweet and lovely name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
