Do you ever wonder if God hears you when you pray or when you start talking to Him? You don’t see Him, you don’t feel Him, and you don’t know where He is. How can you know He hears you? I think this is one of the major roadblocks that gets in the way of our wanting to talk to the Lord, “How do I know He hears me?”

I was wondering this very same thing just few minutes ago when I started communing with the Lord because I couldn’t see His face. I normally see His face in my spirit and can feel Him in my soul, so it’s not very hard for me to talk to Him and believe that He hears me. But I couldn’t see His face and I started to wonder where He is. Lord, are You still there? I concentrated really hard in my heart and I started to see His face again a little bit. I sought after Him with my heart and felt after Him with my heart, and eventually started to see His face even more. I realized then that He’s always there. I just need to believe and of course, to talk to Him. A few scriptures came to my mind that helped me increase my faith to know that He’s always there, and He certainly knows my thoughts and hears me.

God is always there. He said in His word that there is not a place on this earth that we can hide from Him. He covers the whole entire world and even the universe.

“Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.” {Jeremiah 23:24}

“Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance”? {Isaiah 40:12}

“Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.” {Psalm 102:25}

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” {Genesis 1:1}

The Lord made me. The Bible states that God created us in His image. If He made us He certainly must know who we are and what made us the way we are. When I create something, whether a handmade card or write a song, I know what it took to create it. Not only that, because I created it, it is certainly very special to me. They are mine and I make them my own. They are very special to me. No one else can take the joy from me in having created them. So if God made us, He knows our very thoughts and our very being. We are very special in His eyes. He knows each and everyone of us. The Bible states even the number of hairs on our head He knows. He knows when a sparrow falls, how much more then does He know us? There is nothing we can hide from the Lord. He knows us in and out.

“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” {Luke 12:7}

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?” {Luke 12:6}

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” {Matthew 6:26}

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” {Genesis 1:27}

“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” {Psalm 100:3}

“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” {Psalm 139:16}

“Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.” {Psalm 119:73}

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” {Psalm 139:14}

There is nothing we can hide from the Lord. He knows our thoughts, our hearts, and everything we do. He has to know everything about us because He is the great judge of all mankind. The psalmist stated, “Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.” {Psalm 94:2} “And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.” {Psalm 50:6} Our salvation and where we’re going to spend eternity lies with Him. He has to know everything about us.

“Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.” {Psalm 139:2}

“For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.” {Amos 4:13}

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” {Hebrews 4:13}

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” {2 Chronicles 16:9}

“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” {Proverbs 20:27}

“…for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” {1 Samuel 16:7}

“For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.” {Jeremiah 16:17}

“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.” {Proverbs 5:21}

Test the Lord. Finally, if you’re still wondering if God hears your or not, why not test Him? Try Him and see if He knows you or not. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you and to show you if you really do matter to Him. Ask if He really does know you and can hear you. Gideon in the book of Judges tested the Lord by his fleeces. {See Judges 6:36-40} The Lord wanted him to fight the enemy for Israel but he wasn’t very confident about winning, so he tested the Lord to see if He really was with him. To see if they’re really going to win over their enemies. The Lord came through for him and responded to his tests.

The Lord knows our hearts. He knows if we’re really looking for true answers from Him or not. Don’t test Him to try to provoke Him like the children of Israel did, because they had no faith that He would provide for them in the wilderness. They whined and complained and scornfully asked Him to prove Himself. God responded to them all right but He also turned around and punished them. But if you are really wondering who He is and are very desirous to show Himself to you to encourage you in your prayer life with Him, then I would do it. I would ask Him and try Him out. I would ask Him to show Himself and prove Himself.

When I was a little girl there was this lady in the church that was so worried about her salvation. She wanted to know if she was saved and cried to the Lord so many times about her salvation. Even though she had accepted Him and was baptized in His name and had the Spirit of God, she still worried about being saved. One day the Lord gave Her a dream. In the dream a great big book was opened before her. It was the book of life. She saw all these names listed in the book and she started to worry her name wasn’t in there. She was looking for her name when a hand came down on the book and a finger pointed to where her name was. When she woke up she was so happy she told everyone she knew about it.

When you ask Him to show Himself though, don’t forget to wait on Him. Be on the look out for what He’s going to do or how He’s going to reveal Himself to you. Don’t ask and then forget about what you asked Him. Always be waiting for Him to reveal His answer, or show you that He knows who you are. He knows how to reveal Himself to us so that we know He is the one talking to us.

“Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.” {Isaiah 52:6}

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” {Psalm 34:8}

“When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.” {Psalm 95:9}

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” {Isaiah 1:18}

“Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.” {Isaiah 41:21}

“If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” {1 Peter 2:3}

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” {Jeremiah 33:3}

The best way to have Him all the time and to feel Him all the time is to have Him give Himself to you. When you have the Lord and His Holy Spirit comes into your body and fills your heart and soul, then when you talk to Him and love Him He is always there with you. You will feel Him and see Him. The Bible tells us to seek His face, to know who He is and find Him. Don’t settle for having your prayers answered alone. He is a very good God and so He is very giving when we ask Him for things in our prayers. Whether for healing or for our salvation or for making the right decisions in our lives, He is always there and desires for us to be happy. He gives because it gives Him joy to give. But the best way to have Him all the time and feel Him all the time is to seek His face and find it. God wants us to seek His face. He doesn’t want us to just ask Him for things. He wants us to also know who He is. He wants us to love Him for who He is and not just come to Him for what He can give to us. The Bible states,

“Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” {Psalm 105:4}

“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” {Psalm 27:8}

“Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.” {Zephaniah 2:3}

“The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.” {Psalm 22:26}

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” {Matthew 6:33}

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” {Hebrews 11:6}

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You ever so much Savior for Your grace upon me today, for always being there for me whenever I call upon You and ask You to help me. I thank You Lord for never ever leaving me nor forsaking me. For always being faithful in Your love for me. Thank You, Father.

Lord, please Savior, forgive me again for all of my doubts and my fears and not knowing You well enough to believe in You, that You are always there for me and that You hear me. Please Jesus, help me to come to You and talk to You always so that You will bless me with faith in You. I need You Lord. I am lost without You. I need to know who You are for myself so that I can always experience a wonderful fellowship with You, even now on this earth. You are not satisfied with me just asking for things from You. You want a real relationship with me where I am always loving You and talking to You. You want to use me for Your work and for Your kingdom. You need me to be available to You all the time as much as You are available to me. Please Jesus, help me Lord, to seek Your face today. Teach me to know You and find You. Help me Father, to have You today and seek Your face always. I ask all these things in Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
