It’s Christmas time, gift scouring time, and gift giving time. Everybody loves Christmas, especially the children. But for some of us adults who are busy and stressed out to begin with, we’d love to have it over with already as soon as possible. It’s a time of a mad rush to the mall or to some specialty store, a mad rush to getting special meals planned and parties done, and the special madness of rushing to getting gifts wrapped and put away under some nook or cranny before the big reveal of Christmas day. Everything is a mad rush. It’s no wonder that some of the smarter ones have opted out of Christmas and go on vacations in the Caribbean, and some have chosen the grumpier attitude at Christmas and scorn it and want nothing to do with it at all. Whatever your situation is, don’t forget the Lord. Although historians prove that December 25th is not the day Christ was born, we can all agree that the birth of Christ is the greatest thing that ever happened to all of mankind. Without the birth of Jesus where would we all be today? We’d all be lost without Him. Who will give us life everlasting and the forgiveness of our sins? I thank God with all of my heart for the birth of Christ. Without it I am lost.
I love Christmas and yes, I agree it can be a little stressful. But when I bring to the Lord my needs and ask for His help with my preparations, it goes better and smoother than when I do it alone. I ask Him to lead me to what gifts to give to people, where to go and what to buy. I follow with my heart and listen to Him with my spirit. I tell Him what I need to do to get things done and ready, and He helps me. I find that it’s a lot less stressful for me because of His help. He places in my heart even how and when to wrap my gifts and to get them wrapped days before Christmas. I even had Him tell me one day when I had an afternoon to put all my gifts together, “Just focus on the children today. Worry about the adults later.” Sure enough, the adults’ presents came together later much quicker and easier. Even the decorations He helps me put up with less stress because I tell the Lord during my prayer time, “Lord, please I need to get the house decorated. I’ve got to have it decorated. I don’t want to wait until the last minute. Please, Father.” I make God involved in everything I go through in this life even when I don’t need help, how much more when I do? There’s no one else who understands me better and can help me better than the Lord. As long as I put Him first in my activities for the day and make time for Him first thing in my schedule, He helps to make room in my day and even inspires me to get what I need done. He is truly a wonderful God who loves us so much and wants to help us with everything in this life.
Remember Christmas time is all about the birth of Christ, it’s not really about how much gifts we can give to people or if we have everyone covered in our list. It’s especially not about being miserable and being stressed out about Christmas. If it’s feeling that way let’s definitely get God involved. Remember to talk to Him about what you’re feeling and what you need, even the need for money to provide for whatever it is you feel you can’t live without. Whatever we need and desire from the Lord, all we have to do is just talk to Him about it. He understands us and is there for us. He will even help us get ideas for what gifts to make or get. I have had Him lead me to sales and to bargains way before Black Fridays. Love Him first though before you go out to start your day. Praise His name and trust in His love for you. Trust Him to lead you. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t happen right away. Keep asking Him to help you. He can make this holiday for us so much easier to deal with if we just remember to bring Him in and ask Him to help us.
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” {Colossians 3:17}
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” {Philippians 4:6-7}
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” {1 Corinthians 10:31}
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” {Isaiah 9:6}
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I am so glad You came to this earth and gave Your life for us Lord. I am so happy to belong to You and to be loved by You. I am so thankful with all of my heart that You love me so much. You gave Your life for me at the cross, so that today I can be set free to call on You and have You be my Lord and my God, my friend and my constant companion in this life. I am never alone because You are always with me. Thank You, so much Lord Jesus, with all of my heart for You Lord. Thank You so much for You. I love You Jesus.
Father, please Savior, help us today to remember You in all of our Christmas preparations and Christmas stresses. Let us not forget that the reason You came is to love us and to be our great counselor and helper. You will help us in everything we need help with as long as we get You involved by talking to You and letting You know our needs. Help us to remember to talk to You Father in this very busy season and love You throughout it. I pray this in Your most wonderful name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
