“And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” {Luke 18:1}
The Lord spoke about a parable in Luke 18 about a widow who wanted a judge to avenge her of her adversary but the judge did not want to do it. Nevertheless, she did not give up on coming to him and asking him to avenge her. Eventually it came into his heart, even though he did not fear God or man, to do what she asked him to do because he said to himself, “She will weary me by her continual coming to me.” Needless to say, she was consistent in bugging him about what she wanted. I’m sure she did not come to him once in a blue moon or once in a while when she felt like it. I’m sure she was there at his door all the time, probably even everyday, because this mattered so much to her. The Lord then tells us in this parable, “And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them?” {Luke 18:7}
The key to miracles transpiring in our prayer life is in consistency – never giving up. We have to focus on the petition we are asking for and with our burden for it, keep mentioning it to the Lord. If you’re desiring for deliverance for your unsaved loved one for example, you have to keep at it with the Lord with a burden behind your prayer all the time. I mean, be that annoying widow, keep bugging the Lord and don’t ever stop. Then, even if you hear an assurance in your spirit that He’s heard you and He’s going to act on it, keep talking to Him about it. Keep telling Him, “Father, I just want to thank You again for hearing my prayer regarding my son, or my daughter, or my loved one. For saving them and delivering them.” And don’t stop there. Tell Him why you think it’s going to happen, “Lord, because I know there is absolutely nothing too hard with you. In Your word to prophet Jeremiah you told him, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for Me?” {Jeremiah 32:27} Father, I know this situation in my life is nothing to You. I’m so glad You’ve given me the assurance in my spirit that You’re going to be taking care of it. Thank You, Lord Jesus with all of my heart for granting it for me. Thank You, so much.”
Talking to the Lord is one of the most powerful acts we can ever accomplish in this life, not only for ourselves but also for the world we live in. It will not only change us, it will also affect people around us for the good. Talking to God is tapping into the source of power that made the world exist. Without God we would be all non-existent on this earth right now, no one would be alive right now. Think about it. God made the heavens and the earth just simply by speaking them into existence. Our continual coming to Him will tap into that power!
The unjust judge couldn’t stand people. He did not care or have a burden for people, and the only reason he did anything at all for this poor widow who wanted to be avenged of her enemies was simply out of his desire to be left alone. The Lord on the other hand gave His life for us and died for our sins, because He loves us so much. God who bears long with us will not only hear us but will definitely come through for us with whatever we desire from Him.
So don’t give up on talking to the Lord. Keep talking to Him because you never know what power talking to Him will bring in your life. People that did powerful things in their lives in the Bible did them simply because they spent time talking to the Lord. Daniel, King David, Elijah, Elisha, Samuel, Jeremiah, and a host of amazing men and women in the Bible who got miracles happen to them in their lives received them simply because they talked to the Lord. Many of them didn’t just talk to God once in a while, they made talking to Him their life. They talked to Him because it was not an option for them not to.
Even Satan knows the power of consistency. He has all kinds of snares powered up in this world to consistently accomplish his will to destroy mankind. Can you imagine Hollywood opening up business only three or four times a year and you don’t even know when or what time they will put out a movie? Or the Television network buzzes off two to three times a day and sometimes turns off for hours and we can’t watch our favorite shows anymore? That would be nice isn’t it? Maybe it will give us some time to actually stop being distracted and think our own thoughts and not be consistently be influenced by them with what to say or think and how to act. Can you imagine clubs and pubs opening up only when it’s nice and cool outside and the weather is fine for dancing and drinking? Or what about the Internet world? Can you imagine Satan not being consistent in his snaring people away by allowing his porn business or his gambling businesses to shut down all the time? No way! He has so many people doing this kind of businesses so that if one dies on him or gives up on it, he has so many more who follow suit to do his work. He’s so consistent that he has us thinking about our phones and the stuff we could be missing in social media that even when we don’t want to look at our phones anymore, he gets us feeling we’re missing out. It’s part of his plans. If he is not consistent he will lose us. He knows there is power in consistency.
That’s why it’s imperative that we are consistent too in our talks with the Lord. If Satan knows he has power in being consistent how much more we who are the children of the Great God of the universe who are very much loved by Him will get power too, if we are being consistent in our talks with the Lord. Satan knows if he can’t snare us he’s lost us. So let’s keep fighting the good fight of faith and keep laying hold of eternal life. Let’s be consistent in walking and talking with the Lord because He is our only source of power against the wiles and snares of the devil. Talking to the Lord all the time will give us power to do His great will in our lives, and make a difference in our world everyday. Let’s keep fighting and seeking and talking after the Lord, and never get weary of coming to Him for in due time if we faint not we will overcome.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” {Hebrews 11:6}
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” {Galatians 6:9}
“In your patience possess ye your souls.” {Luke 21:19}
“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.” {Romans 2:7}
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” {Matthew 24:13}
