Use Words

How do we make God feel loved? He owns the heavens and the earth and everything that we see, hear, feel and touch, both in the physical world and in the spirit world. You can’t give Him money or buy things for Him and give Him a gift. You can’t reach out and hug Him. How then do we make Him feel loved?

Use words. It’s really as simple as that – words. Words that are heartfelt, letting Him know how we feel about Him.

People throughout the ages in the history of mankind and even in the pages of the Bible went to God using words. They set up a tabernacle or an altar with a burnt offering to talk to Him. Adam and Eve talked with God in the cool of the evening. Abraham had his altar, so did Isaac and Jacob. Throughout the history of mankind, whether in the Bible or history books, when people wanted God’s attention they talked to Him.

Words are a very powerful tool to use with God. They can either bring Him near to us or bring Him far from us. Proverbs lets us know:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. {Proverbs 18:21}

Words are so powerful that God used them to create the heaven and the earth. God spoke the world we see today into existence. Without His word we would not know who Jesus Christ is today. The scripture tells us:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. {John 1:14}

It is through God’s word and the preaching of His word that we come to know the mind of God. The Bible tells us that God has magnified His word above all His names.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. {Psalm 138:2}

Words are so important to God. This is how He communicates to us and we to Him. Don’t underestimate the power of your prayer and bringing your words of praise and thanksgiving to Him. It means a lot to the Lord when we go to Him and talk to Him. That’s why all over the Bible you see people that have power with God talk to Him all the time. Daniel talked to God three times a day and he was lifted up so high above all his peers. So much so when they came against him and had him thrown in the lion’s den, God came and rescued him. The lions wouldn’t eat Daniel. His enemies on the other hand ended up there instead and perished.

Moses talked to God in Mount Sinai and God responded back with words that Moses wrote in a book. In turn the children of Israel knew what God wanted of them and learned how they’re supposed to live. When Joshua took over from Moses as a leader, God commanded him to keep His law and to meditate on His word day and night. He was to study it and speak it out of His mouth so that he will prosper and have good success. God said to Him:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. {Joshua 1:8}

When God came down on this earth and was manifested in the flesh of Jesus Christ, He healed people through words. All He needed to do was speak the word and it was done. The lame walked, the blind saw, and the dead were raised up just from Him simply speaking the word. The disciples healed people through the name of Jesus Christ, using words of faith and the proclamation of the power of His name. We use words to accept Jesus Christ into our lives and find salvation in Him. When we repent of our sins we use words of repentance to ask for His grace and forgiveness, and the Lord gives it to us. When we are baptized in the water for the remission of our sins, words are spoken over us declaring the mighty name of Jesus. When the Holy Ghost comes to us and fills us with the power of God from on high, we speak in tongues, with words from heaven that God gives to us.

We don’t need to climb Mount Sinai or cross oceans and rivers to find God and make Him feel loved. Just a simple, “I love You, Jesus. Thank You for being so merciful and kind to me,” brings Him near. We don’t need a lot of things to come to God, just use words.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. {Hebrews 13:15}

Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments. {Psalm 119:108}

Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. {Hosea 14:2}

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever. {Psalm 118:1-4}

Prayer

Thank You so much Lord Jesus for Your great love for us, Your people today. Without Your powerful words of life we wouldn’t be here today. From the day of creation to our present time You have used words of healing and comfort and salvation to save us. Thank You with all of my heart for the power of Your words.

Father, You are gracious and merciful to my soul, and my heart looks to You always for my help. I pray Lord Jesus that You would please help me everyday to come to You with words of worship and praise and thanksgiving. Help me to never ever stop loving You, or stop talking to You, because with You my life is complete. With you I find fulfillment in my life and my soul. I love You so much Lord Jesus, You mean so much to me. I pray Father for more love for You, and for more faith in Your love for me. I pray for this in Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You Father. Amen.
