It’s a set up. All the disappointments and heartaches we experience in this life are a set up. We weren’t meant to be truly happy here in this life. We weren’t meant to find all of our joys and satisfaction here in this world. You know why – because if we did, we would forget the Lord in a heartbeat. As it is, we forget the Lord now with so many heartaches that creep up in our lives. We look to man, to our society, to our family, and to whatever recreation we can come up with to be happy. But God wants us to only find our happiness in Him. Yes, that might sound pretty selfish and pretty possessive of God, but it’s true. You can ask Him yourself if you like. God doesn’t want us to find happiness outside of Him. He wants to be the source of our happiness. He wants to be the one that brings joy, peace, gladness and our reason for being into our soul. When we wake up in the morning He wants to be the first thing we have in our minds, not what the world can give to us to make us happy. Him alone. He wants to be the center of our world and our existence. And why not? Ask yourself, “Who made me, who loves me the most, and who gave His life for me?” None other than Jesus Christ, God Himself robed in the flesh. He is possessive of us. He is obsessed with us. Think about it, would someone who is not obsessed with you die for you to set you free from your sins? No, of course not. Only someone who is crazy about you and so in love with you will give his life for you. Christ did. So would He want us to be happy outside of Him? Would He want us to look for our happiness in this life other than Him? No. I don’t think so.
So next time you’re miserable and sad and wish the world would sink to the bottom of the sea, think about the Lord. Think about finding your happiness in Him. When you do you will find that you won’t be disappointed. I can guarantee you finding Him as your source of happiness will bring your soul more happiness than you could ever imagine. Because with the Lord being the source of your happiness, you will come to realize the world cannot even compare to the happiness He has prepared for you. The world is just the beginning or a stepping stone to the world that is to come. There is so much more waiting for you. Don’t set your heart towards this world. The Bible tells us,
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. {1 Corinthians 2:9}
Like I said this world is not meant to make us happy. This world is meant to only find our way to God. If you want to be happy, find it in God.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. {John 10:10}
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. {John 10:11}
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. {John 14:6}
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. {John 1:4}
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. {John 16:33}
Prayer
Lord Jesus, how wonderful You are. How incredible You are that You would love us so much without reservations. You would come down and become flesh and blood like one of us so that You can give Your life for us and die for our sins. Who in the heavens and over all the earth would do such a thing for us unless He loves us so much, so that we can be set free to live a life abundantly with You? No one but You Lord. No one else would do it but You. And You have done it and You have accomplished it at the cross.
Thank You Father, with all of my heart for being in my life. Thank You for being the source of happiness for me here on this earth. The world might disappoint and bring me tears and sorrow, but You are there ready to bring me hope and wipe all my tears away. You are there to calm my fears and bring me comfort and strength in the midst of my trials and tribulations. I thank You with all of my heart for You Jesus, for being so real and so true in my life today. I pray for more love for You today, Father. In Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
