Why Weep?

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. {Jeremiah 31:15}

Then all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. And he said, “Surely I will go down to Sheol in mourning for my son.” So his father wept for him. {Genesis 37:35}

Jesus Wept. {John 11:35}

Why weep? Weeping is a sign of having deep sorrow and sadness. When you’re hurting really bad you weep. Sometimes the only way to let out bad feelings and sad emotions, even negative emotions, is to weep. There are loads of scenarios in the Bible that showed us weeping is a part of life. At one time or another in our lives we will find ourselves weeping. We will go through it. I don’t know anyone who has not known what it is like to weep. Even a child who has been sheltered all their life will come to experience sadness. They will weep.

It’s all right to weep. As matter of fact even Jesus Christ wept. When he found out that his friend Lazarus died and had been buried for four days and they brought Him to his tomb, the Bible states Jesus wept. He was so overcome with sadness that He wept. So don’t be ashamed to weep if you are overcome with sorrow. Weep by all means. But don’t weep alone. Don’t weep and carry all your sadness all on your own shoulders, because you don’t have to. Share it with Jesus. Share it with the One who understands all sorrow and sadness, who above all understands your heart and the depth of the sadness you are going through. There is no sorrow or sadness He will not help us with if we bring it to Him and share it with Him. He will not only comfort us and alleviate our sadness, but will also help us overcome whatever situation we are faced with. He will work it all out for our good. It doesn’t matter if it seems hopeless and insurmountable, with Jesus nothing is impossible. Remember He is the one who can part the Red sea, calm the storm, and even speak things into existence out of nothing. Nothing is too hard with the Lord. Even if it seems too late and there’s nothing we can do about the situation anymore, find His comfort, find His strength, and find His love. He will help us. He will comfort us. He loves it when we go to Him for comfort because He hates to see us unhappy. In the Bible there was a widow that was on her way to bury her one and only son who had died. The Bible states, “When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.” {Luke 7:13} The Lord then went to her son and told him to get up and he did. He came back to life. God loves us so much that He will do whatever it takes to see us happy. He will give to us whatever we desire from Him if we will just let Him know and have faith in Him.

The Lord was willing to die for us and go through the pain and agony of death, so that we today can find life and have it more abundantly. {John 10:10} He wants us to have joy and peace. He wants us to rejoice always in Him. {1 Thessalonians 5:16} That is also why He is preparing a place for us where there will be no more tears, or any more pain or sorrow or crying or weeping. He is preparing a new heaven and a new earth for us where He Himself will be with us, and will comfort us forever and ever. We will never ever be separated from Him again. So hang in there. Weep by all means but don’t weep alone. Find Jesus and talk to Him. Let Him know how you are feeling and He will be there for you.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. {Revelation 21:4}

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. {Isaiah 51:11}

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You Father, for Your abundant grace and love for us. I thank You Father that we are never alone in this life. We can find You and we will find You if we come to You and talk to You with all of our hearts.

Please Lord help us today who are overcome with so much sadness in our soul and in our hearts. Help us to come to You. So many today, Lord, are suffering with sadness, even inexplicable despair. Please Jesus help us to come to You and to look to You for our comfort and for our healing. Help us to believe in Your great love for us. Give us faith to talk to You. Help us to find our reason and hope for living in You today Jesus. Help us not to give up on You, but to keep coming and talking and looking to You for our rest, everyday. I ask all these things Father in Your most wonderful and precious name, Jesus. Thank You, Father. Amen.
